Kari Lake Surging, New Batch of Votes Counted, Arizona Coming Down To The Wire!

Things are still dicey in Arizona as Kari Lake attempts to unseat Ruben Gallego for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District.  Gallego has held the seat for 9 years, but with the vote count now stretching towards the third day the gap seems to be closing between Lake and Gallego.

In the last hour a new batch of votes have been tallied and added to the current count, showing that Kari Lake is indeed closing the gap and approaching a possible win over Gallego — but it is still too close to call, and questions continue to swirl over strange inconsistencies regarding the AZ vote.

In a statistical oddity reminiscent of 2020 vote tallies, Ruben Gallego has had more votes for his bid to maintain his Senate seat than either President Trump or Kamala have in the Presidential race tallies.  The only way that is possible is if an enormous amount of Arizona voters are voting on the tightly contested Senate race but not voting on the Presidential portion of the ballot.  “WEIRD.”

That was the picture Wednesday morning.  As of 5:30 CST, the picture has shifted much more promisingly in Kari Lake’s direction, with conventional wisdom noting that the majority of the uncounted ballots should lean more heavily in Lake’s direction than towards Gallego because many of them represent historically Republican districts.

Kari Lake noted on X midmorning yesterday that she expected things to go down to the wire, but that was even before this current drop of recently counted ballots created a scenario where a Kari Lake win was definitively possible.

According to the Arizona Secretary of State website, this is the current map of the race by the numbers:

The Washington Post has the numbers in the same ballpark, showing Kari Lake within a 50,000 vote striking distance of unseating Gallego with another 30% of the votes remaining.

The questions remain surrounding the ongoing apparent discrepancies between the Senate vote counts versus the Presidential tallies.

Oddly enough, Stephen Richer, the Maricopa County Recorder, has deactivated his personal X account within the last few hours.

Things are definitely looking more promising for Kari Lake as we stretch towards the third day of counting in Arizona.  (Shame on you, Arizona!)  According to a comparative look at how Lake has been tracking, the turnout alone points to a win for her Senate race.  But this is Maricopa County, Arizona we’re talking about — and it’s not over till it’s over.

This is a developing story.  We will bring you the latest updates as they happen!
