Kamala Doesn’t Even Speak To Supporters At Her Own Election Night Watch Party

It wasn’t long after the first polls closed that the writing seemed to be on the wall.

By the time most Americans woke up on Wednesday, the election had already been called for President Donald Trump in what was shaping up to be a landslide victory over Kamala Harris.

For the Harris campaign, election night was anything but a joyous occasion. In fact, the candidate didn’t even bother to make a statement at her own watch party.

According to the Daily Caller:

Harris’s office called a lid close to 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, indicating that there will be no more news or movement for the day. Harris never stopped by Howard University, where her watch party is being held, while most election prognosticators project former President Donald Trump as a heavy favorite to win the White House.

“You won’t hear from the vice president tonight, but you will hear from her tomorrow,” Harris Campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond told an increasingly dwindling crowd at Howard just before 1 a.m. He added that votes are still being counted.

The campaign sent out an internal email, widely circulated on Twitter, ahead of midnight telling its staff to head home and get some sleep. Around midnight, outlets started reporting that the crowd was beginning to thin at the Harris watch party.

Reports about her absence and the souring mood of supporters at the party soon began to spread via social media:

Although reports indicated Harris had been planning a concession speech for Wednesday evening, as of this writing she had not yet admitted defeat.

As the Daily Mail explained:

The world was shocked as the results favoring Trump trickled in Tuesday night as many polls indicated that Harris had a slight lead heading into Election Day.

Trump has blown that prediction up completely and has so far taken in the lion’s share of the popular vote too, securing 51 percent to Harris 47.5 percent as of Wednesday morning with most of the nation’s votes counted.

If that lead stands, it would mark the first time a Republican has won the popular vote in 20 years, since George Bush’s 2004 win, indicating a high-water mark of Republican enthusiasm the party has not seen in decades.

Still, the Democratic nominee has not addressed the outcome of the presidential election, which the Associated Press called as a victory for Trump around 5:30 am ET on Wednesday morning.
