Texas Has Been Won – Fox News, MSNBC Both Call Hotly Contested Senate Race

Ted Cruz has won his re-election bid, defeating the heavily funded democratic attempt to put Colin Allred in his Senate seat.  Fox News and MSNBC have called the race within the last few minutes, with Cruz defeating Allred by a considerable margin.

According to the Fox News Decision Desk, Cruz is leading Allred by more than 6 percentage points, revealing that the suspected “tight race” may not have been as tight as left-leaning polls have been suggesting.  And from what I am seeing across the board, the same seems to be very true for the Presidential election as well.  In fact, watching the CNN talking heads react to their first exit poll date has been the highlight of my election night so far!

The Fox News Decision Desk projected that incumbent Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz will defeat his Democratic opponent Rep. Colin Allred on Tuesday, and win a third term in the U.S. Senate.

Cruz won his last re-election effort in 2018, beating Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke.

Cruz sits on four Senate committees – Foreign Relations, Judiciary, Rules and Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

This is a big win for us down in Texas, considering that while democrats were pouring money into Allred’s campaign to push Texas towards the blue side, Mitch McConnell was refusing to pour any funding into Cruz’ campaign.  (Could it be because Cruz is against funding the forever-wars that McConnell is hellbent on pushing us into?  Yes, yes it could.)

It was also things like that — a completely ignorant approach to the border wall, something that us Texans feel very strongly about — that kept Allred from pushing Ted Cruz out.  And Ted Cruz used the moment to take a dig at Obama and the democrats obvious intention on complicating the vote counting process.

Maybe with the tide seeming to turn towards the Republicans and President Trump, as they currently are, we might just avoid the complications and dangers of an extended legal battle over the integrity of the vote.  Too big to rig?  Maybe.  Just… maybe.
