Reports in the last hour are starting to surface indicating that Kamala Harris’ plane has added a last-minute “surprise” stop before heading to the next campaign stop. Apparently, in spite of previous concerns by the show’s creator and executive producer about equal airtime laws, Kamala will appear on tonight’s episode.
BREAKING: Air Force Two took off from Charlotte, North Carolina for Detroit but was diverted to New York City.
Harris aides informed the press pool mid-air that @KamalaHarris was headed to New York and not Detroit.
They wouldn’t share what the Vice President is doing in New…

According to a Fox News story, the reports apparently indicate a “hush hush” mentality surrounding the appearance, with Secret Service reportedly already on site prior to Kamala’s arrival.
Vice President Kamala Harris will make a “surprise” appearance on “Saturday Night Live” this evening, according to reports.
According to sources who spoke with the Associated Press and New York Post, the Democratic nominee will appear in the show’s cold open in the final episode Saturday night before Tuesday’s election.
“It’s all been hush-hush,” a source told The New York Post Saturday, adding that the “Secret Service is here.”
Last month, SNL creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels suggested neither presidential candidate would appear this season. He said he did not reach out to either campaign and cited the need for “equal time” to both of them as an obstacle.
“You can’t bring the actual people who are running on because of election laws and the equal time provisions,” Michaels said.
“You can’t have the main candidates without having all the candidates, and there are lots of minor candidates that are only on the ballot in, like, three states and that becomes really complicated.”
Kamala is appearing on SNL tonight, even though as recently as one month ago, they explicitly said they’re not hosting either candidate.
They lied.
Just another example of the system working overtime to prop up a failing, astroturfed candidate that nobody voted for. pic.twitter.com/rFQB48alLq

My first thought was echoed by Robert Sterling on X — she can go sit for a 2-4 Million weekly audience for SNL in order to get propaganda soundbites just before Election Day, but she can’t go to Austin for 40+ Million MORE viewers? Her intention seems to be avoiding REAL QUESTIONS — and while SNL might seem like a “bold” move… comedy in which you take part in isn’t the same as answering straight questions. Its the perfect avoidance of them, actually.
Kamala Harris is flying to NYC for SNL, which 2-4M people watch every week.
But she wouldn’t go to Austin to sit with Joe Rogan, whose audience is 10X larger (43M watched Trump on YouTube alone).
She doesn’t want questions or interviews. She wants propaganda features. Pathetic. pic.twitter.com/zOq0fPlfZi

NBC is in fact now announcing the appearance, but has made no mention of the previous concerns over equal time and election laws.
Vice President Kamala Harris will make an appearance on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, according to three people familiar with the planning.
It will be the last episode before the election. Actor and comedian John Mulaney is hosting, and Chappell Roan is the musical guest.
Jason Miller, senior adviser to the Trump campaign, said “SNL” had been “crushing” her all season and going on the show is “crazy.”
Trump did a whole episode of SNL.
Kamala’s just doing the intro.
Trump did 3 hours on Rogan.
Kamala refused to do it unless it was only 1 hour.
He’s in an entirely different league than her. She’s afraid to be herself. She’s completely synthetic. She’s a muppet. pic.twitter.com/rxVsIokYbF

Yep — I’m with Gator Gar. This is a last ditch effort to gain some attention, try to mitigate any negative vibes, and pretend she’s willing to go in front of the press.
New flash, Kamala… SNL is not the press, and we all know it. This is a fake play, for a fake candidate, at a time of panic within the campaign because she’s up against a real fighter, a genuine person who’s willing to say — right or wrong — what he thinks, and stand his ground.
According to the New York Post, it does sound like the Secret Service presence on set is what tipped the hand.
This week’s episode, hosted by “SNL” alum John Mulaney, will also include an appearance by former vice presidential candidate Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), according to the insider. Kaine is vying for a third term against Republican challenger Hung Cao.
In addition to visits from Harris and Kaine, controversial former “SNL” cast member Pete Davidson will also make an appearance on this week’s episode.
“I don’t think the Secret Service is here for him,” The Post’s source joked about Davidson.
I’m really curious to find out how the show’s producers will react to questions (and lawsuits?) surrounding the election laws they were so quick to highlight only a month ago. But what I really want to know is will SNL suddenly play ball, and give Kamala (and apparently Walz) a freebie? Or, as they’ve done in recent episodes, are these two in for a ROASTING? I have a feeling we’ll have some good headlines by morning stemming from this appearance, either way!
