Tulsi Gabbard Just Made A Major Announcement About Her Party Affiliation

Former U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii is one of the many disillusioned ex-Democrats who have embraced the campaign of GOP President Donald Trump.

After running for president herself in the 2020 Democratic primary, Gabbard shifted her party registration to independent. Now, she’s ready to make another switch, as she told attendees at a Trump campaign rally in North Carolina this week.

According to Breitbart:

During former President Donald Trump’s rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Tuesday, Gabbard explained that because of her “love” for the United States and “because of the leadership” that former President Donald Trump “has brought to transform” the GOP, she is joining the Republican Party.

Gabbard explained that a vote for Trump is a vote for “secure borders and safe communities” and “a vote for peace,” not only in the U.S. but around the world.

“It is because of my love for our country and specifically because of the leadership that President Trump has brought to transform the Republican Party and bring it back to the party of the people and the party of peace, that I’m proud to stand here with you today President Trump and announce that I’m joining the Republican Party,” Tulsi told the crowd. “I’m joining the party of the people, the party of equality, the party that was founded to fight against and end slavery in this country. It is the party of common sense and the party that is led by a president who has the courage and strength to fight for peace.”

Gabbard’s waning allegiance to the leftist orthodoxy that defined her early political career has been widely documented over the past couple of years. She received widespread support from Republicans in response to her newfound affiliation.

Gabbard, who debated Kamala Harris ahead of the 2020 primary election, offered Trump advice prior to his debate with the vice president last month.

According to Newsweek:

The former Congresswoman for Hawaii has been informally coaching Trump in the lead-up to the ABC debate, after endorsing the former president on August 26. Tulsi previously debated Harris during the 2019 Democratic primaries, and went viral after one of their exchanges over Harris’ record as California’s Attorney General.

Gabbard warned that Harris is “talented on the debate stage” and that Trump should not focus too much on trying to provoke her, and instead concentrate on her record as President Joe Biden’s right-hand woman.

Speaking on Fox News just hours before the debate, Gabbard said: “I pointed out the hypocrisy of how she would say one thing, and when the standard was held to herself, she did the exact opposite. We are seeing that opportunity again in this debate for President Trump.

Here’s a clip of Gabbard’s remarks during the recent Trump rally:
