Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat, said the state’s full unofficial election results should be available at the end of the day AFTER the election.
“I would estimate end of the day on Wednesday as the best guess on how we’ll perform,” Benson said.
“With that said, we will always prioritize accuracy and security over efficiency,” she added.
Benson made the comments on CBS News’ “Face The Nation” on Sunday.

Bridge Detroit reports:
While it could take nearly a day for state results, third parties including the Associated Press regularly call races long before unofficial results are available. Those are projections based on the vote counts already reported.
ADVERTISEMENTBenson told “Face The Nation” host Margaret Brennan she would still compel local canvassers to certify the election if former President Donald Trump wins the state.
More than 1 million absentee ballots have already been returned in Michigan, meaning that as of Monday morning more than 14% of Michigan registered voters have voted 15 days before Election Day.
Early, in-person voting launched in Detroit this past Saturday and Benson said close to 2,000 people voted on the first day, 10 times as the turnout on the first day in the August primary election.

From The Hill:
Benson said voters in Michigan are excited to cast their ballot in this election. More than 1 million people have already voted in the state, and more than 2 million requested an absentee ballot.
She said without hesitation she will certify the results of the presidential election — no matter who wins. Currently, former President Trump is leading Vice President Harris by 0.4 percentage points in Michigan, according to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ.
Michigan already faces criticism for its bloated voter rolls, which have nearly 500,000 more than the eligible voting population.

"Michigan has more registered voters than eligible citizens!? Is that true?" Elon Musk questioned.
Benson accused Musk of "spreading dangerous disinformation."
"There aren’t more voters than citizens in Michigan. There are 7.2 million active registered voters and 7.9 citizens of voting age in our state. Musk is pushing a misleading number that includes 1.2 million inactive records slated for removal in accordance with the law," Benson said.

"Jocelyn Michelle Benson, shame on you for blatantly lying to the public! You only plan to remove the ineligible voters AFTER this election. That necessarily means that there are far more people registered to vote than there eligible voters," Musk said.
