Dave Ramsey has long stayed out of the political realm. Paying down debt, creating a “nest egg” emergency fund, financial responsibility; those are the issues the financial guru has focused on exclusively — until now.
In a big move that immediately sent ripples through the election, Dave Ramsey has openly declared to his 15+ MILLION listeners his fearless endorsement for President Trump.

Riley Gaines nailed it in her post to X, but I’ll point out that not only is Dave Ramsey unafraid of making his support for President Trump known in the 2024 election — he also hit back at those who might be upset with his choice, and particularly for making it known on his enormously popular financial show.
Here’s a clip of Ramsey arguing for why he is voting for President Trump, and explaining why it really is no question if financial responsibility and a working economic model is important to you.

Ramsey, “a beacon for millions” who want their financial lives put in order, is a big win for President Trump’s campaign. According to a story in the EconoTimes, this is a big shift from Ramsey’s historic neutrality in the political arena.
“I believe in financial responsibility, and there’s no question that Trump aligns with that vision,” Ramsey declared, sparking widespread debate among both his supporters and detractors. While Ramsey has largely steered clear of making political endorsements in the past, his vocal support for Trump this time around marks a significant departure from his typical apolitical stance.
For years, Ramsey has been a beacon for millions looking to get their financial lives in order. With best-selling books like The Total Money Makeover and his immensely popular radio show, he’s built a loyal following based on principles of budgeting, debt elimination, and wealth-building. Until now, he’s largely stayed out of the political fray, but with the 2024 election on the horizon, Ramsey’s decision to back Trump represents a bold and potentially polarizing move.
During his show, Ramsey cited economic concerns as a primary motivator for his endorsement, pointing specifically to the country’s handling of inflation, debt, and unemployment under the Biden administration. “The direction we’re going isn’t sustainable,” Ramsey said. “We need strong leadership to turn this economy around, and Trump has the track record to do it.”
As mentioned, Ramsey hit back against the likely backlash for taking his political stance public. His ability to flatly declare, “I own the show…“, is a powerful sentiment that likely resonates with those who are listeners of his show, and a reflection of how crucial the role of financial independence is in Ramsey’s world view, and his instruction to millions of would-be financial victors.

What do you do with a guy like that? How do you shut him up? What do you leverage against him? Not much. In terms of financial independence, and therefore his overall self-sufficiency… Dave Ramsey has effectively become what is known is my world as “ungovernable”; and that more of us would follow suit!
It wasn’t long ago that Ramsey went on Fox’s The Ingram Angle, and pointed out without equivocation that Kamala Harris’ financial plan simply wouldn’t work.
And then, in a sign of his future endorsement, Dave Ramsey met with President Trump at Trump Tower, and had a full sit-down interview. They covered everything from a financial standpoint, but the conversation went everywhere from immigration, “woke-ism”, and obviously the financial battlefield.
I had a feeling then that we might be seeing an endorsement forthcoming from the financial expert — and here we are! Here is the full interview Ramsey aired of his discussion with President Trump a few weeks ago.
In a nod to his financial practicality, the interview was titled “Can Trump’s Plan Clean Up America’s Financial Mess”. According to Fox News, the interview covered inflation, real estate, the assassination attempts, and energy dominance.
Finance guru, mentor and syndicated radio personality Dave Ramsey announced his endorsement for former President Trump – challenging listeners who disagree with him to try to cancel him.
“I’m looking at ideas and which idea lands on which side of the aisle,” Ramsey said. “Where am I most likely to get a tax policy that I like? Where am I most likely to get an immigration policy I like? Where am I most likely to get a foreign policy I like? Where am I most likely to get a gun policy I like? A climate change policy I like? A woke policy I like? That I agree with.”
The Dave Ramsey Show has over 18 million weekly listeners and is broadcast on Sirius XM and iHeartRadio.
The financial expert recently made headlines during a sit-down chat with Trump, titled “Can Trump’s Plan Clean Up America’s Financial Mess?”
The nearly 25 minute interview, uploaded on their YouTube channel, Ramsey discussed inflation, U.S. energy dominance, real estate and the president’s two assassination attempts.
Ramsey reportedly has also reached out to the Harris campaign for an interview with the vice president. In a TikTok caption, he wrote that he’ll “do the same thing with Vice President Harris if I get the chance.”
At a time when almost every issue that could possibly be debated is part of the national discussion surrounding the election, finance and the economy still dominates much of the political horizon.
It may be hard to overstate the potential impact that a respective conservative voice with 15+ million listeners might have on the election — but there’s a 100% chance that people are paying attention to Ramsey’s willingness to step into an arena he has previously avoided. That fact alone will carry a lot of weight with many voters.
