An unidentified fleet of drones surrounded a U.S. military base in Virginia for over two weeks late last year, a report explains.
According to Fox News, U.S. military personnel witnessed the unmanned drones breach restricted airspace over a portion of Langley Air Force Base last December.
A swarm of drones has been violating air space over Langley AF base in Virginia for 17 days, and the Pentagon doesn’t know who, why, or where and has not done anything about it. The drones are around 100′ long, flying 3 to 4k ft high at 100 mph. https://t.co/VxsFoTaK9L

Per Fox News:
The drones would start to arrive about 45 minutes to an hour after sunset each night, one official reportedly told U.S. Air Force Gen. Mark Kelly, who joined several other officers responsible for the country’s most advanced jet fighters, including F-22 Raptors, on a squadron rooftop.
Kelly described the first drone he saw as roughly 20 feet long and flying at more than 100 miles an hour, at an altitude of roughly 3,000 to 4,000 feet. As many as a dozen or more drones followed, flying across Chesapeake Bay, and then traveling toward Norfolk, Virginia, and through a space overlooking the base for the Navy’s SEAL Team Six and Naval Station Norfolk, the world’s largest naval port, according to the Journal.
The report said officials could not determine if hobbyists or adversaries – such as China or Russia – were responsible for the drone fleet. Reports of the matter reached President Biden and resulted in two weeks of meetings at the White House in December 2023, the Journal reported. Those meetings included the Defense Department, the FBI and the Pentagon’s UFO office, as well as outside experts.

The New York Post noted that drones of unknown origin have been spotted over military bases in Virginia and Nevada.
“Federal laws, however, prohibit the military from shooting down the drones due to the potential risks to troops and civilians,” the outlet stated.

From the New York Post:
Jamming their signals was also ruled out in high-level White House meetings, according to the Journal — over concerns that it could interfere with 911 systems, WiFi networks and commercial airliners.
The result is that the Pentagon has little recourse to halt the potential surveillance from foreign adversaries.
Former US Air Force Gen. Mark Kelly was first made aware of the drone sightings in December 2023, when officials at Langley Air Force Base along the Virginia coast reported seeing dozens of drones flying over the base at night, according to the WSJ.
The base is home to the F-22 Raptor fighter jets — one of the American military’s most advanced stealth warplanes.
The drones continued to appear over the course of 17 days, with officials suspecting they might have been deployed by Russian or Chinese agents to spy on American military assets.
Because snooping does not constitute an imminent threat, the military is prohibited by law from shooting down the drones.
