Riots Incoming? Portland Police Prep for Election Unrest

Ah, Portland—where chaos seems to have a permanent residency.

BLM riots anyone?

Well, with the 2024 election looming, the Portland Police Bureau is dusting off the helmets and riot gear.

They hope this won’t be a rerun of 2020.

But they can read the writing on the wall.

Things are sure to get violent if the Democrat’s candidate doesn’t win.

Because nothing says “democracy” like rioting when your team loses.

The Post Millennial reports:

The Portland Police Bureau is preparing a Rapid Response Team to manage crowd control leading up to the election. The move comes amid growing concerns that Portland could face civil unrest similar to the riots seen during the 2020 and 2016 election cycles.

Portland Police Chief Bob Day reinstated the team last June, and over 50 officers have been training monthly in preparation, according to KATU (Portland News). One officer who volunteered for the team, Sarah Kerwin, emphasized her willingness to do so because of her commitment to protecting both citizens and officers.

KATU reported that one example of these changes is the use of protective shields by law enforcement. These shields are designed to protect officers from projectiles thrown by rioters, including Molotov cocktails. The shields can also be connected to form a protective wall with a roof if needed during particularly unruly situations.

Remember the BLM riots of Portland?

Are we going to see a sequel to it this November?
