A number of notable Democrats have either endorsed President Donald Trump or ditched the party altogether ahead of next month’s presidential election.
One recent example is Peter Deutsch, who represented Florida in Congress for more than a decade.
As the Daily Caller reported:
Deutsch, who served Florida’s 20th Congressional District for six terms from 1993-2005, endorsed Trump during a campaign call commemorating the anniversary of the Hamas attacks on Israel, according to The Hill. Deutsch criticized the Biden administration for what he perceives as a lack of leadership in addressing international crises, particularly those affecting global peace.
“I feel very comfortable today publicly announcing that I’m endorsing Donald Trump to be reelected as president,” Deutsch said, The Hill reported. “Driving force for me to make this decision is what I believe is the most important factor in being president, which is really world peace.”
“And I think that Kamala Harris and the Harris-Biden administration in terms of what they have done and are doing … make the world a dramatically less safe place,” Deutsch added.
The cross-party endorsement sparked significant social media discussion:

I was floored when I saw Deutsch backing Trump. He was the definition of partisan South Florida Dem — his successor was Debbie Wasserman Schultz!
But many FL Jewish Ds have been outraged by the anti-Israel protests on the left & so this isn’t too surprising for a former member https://t.co/58t5vyNScF

As the BBC reported in August, Trump’s transition team is already filling up with former Democrats:
Donald Trump has appointed Robert F Kennedy Jr and Tulsi Gabbard to his transition team, days after the two former Democrats endorsed his campaign.
Ms Gabbard is a former congresswoman and military veteran who ran to be the Democratic candidate for the presidency in 2020, before distancing herself from the party.
Mr Kennedy initially launched a bid to win the Democratic nomination this time around, but later ran as an independent before dropping out and endorsing Trump.
Here’s another recent example of Trump receiving the support of a disaffected Democrat:
