[UPDATE 12:30AM EST] Significant Police & SWAT Presence at Trump Tower Chicago


[UPDATE] – The incident at Trump Hotel & Tower in Chicago has apparently ended some time ago.  President Trump is reportedly not in Chicago, and the incident was allegedly initiated by reports of an individual with a gun, who was taken into custody.

UPDATE: SWAT officers were seen leaving Trump Tower in downtown Chicago after one person was taken into custody for having a gun in a room at the Trump International Hotel & Tower. Police said the investigation is ongoing. Police officers, SWAT team members, the Joint Terrorism Task Force, EMS, the Fire Department, and the bomb squad were all observed in the area. Donald Trump is not in Chicago and has no plans to be in the city this week.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, an individual was taken into custody but no other information was released about the person.

A person was taken into custody Tuesday night after a gun was found inside a room at Trump International Hotel and Tower.

A Chicago police SWAT team responded about 6:50 p.m. to the River North skyscraper, 401 N. Wabash Ave., police said.

The person, whose age and gender weren’t released, was taken into custody “without incident,” police said. Many police squad cars, fire rescue vehicles and an armored police vehicle were at the scene.

What is being reported as a “significant” police presence has suddenly arrived at Trump Hotel & Tower in Chicago.  Dozens of police vehicles are lining the street, with a SWAT vehicle stationed just outside the entrance.

At the moment there is no word on exactly what the flurry of law enforcement is about.  But video and photos are making the rounds on social media.

SWAT officers can be seen walking in the street in the second video on the previous post.  But no word yet on what is going on.

This is a breaking story, and will be updated as soon as information becomes available.
