Kamala Harris: “I Own A Glock”

In a recent sit-down interview, Kamala Harris sat down with 60 Minutes and shared she owns a Glock.

The topic was raised when CBS’s Bill Whitaker asked Harris, “What kind of gun do you own, and when and why did you get it?”

Harris responded, “I have a Glock, and I’ve had it for quite some time. And — I mean, look, Bill, my background is in law enforcement. And — so there you go.”

Whitaker followed up, “Have you ever fired it?”

Harris answered, “Yes. Of course, I have. At a shooting range. Yes, of course I have.”

Vice President Harris said in a “60 Minutes” interview that aired Monday that she owns a Glock and has fired it at a shooting range in another example of how she and her campaign have made a point to highlight her gun ownership.

“I have a Glock, and I’ve had it for quite some time. And — I mean, look, Bill, my background is in law enforcement. And — so there you go,” Harris told Bill Whitaker during a sit-down with the CBS News program.

“Have you ever fired it?” Whitaker asked.
“Yes. Of course I have,” Harris said with a laugh. “At a shooting range. Yes, of course I have.”

Harris has spoken repeatedly about the need to address gun violence, and she has joined President Biden at the White House for announcements about efforts to reduce the number of gun deaths and tighten restrictions on certain gun sales. As a candidate, Harris has called for Congress to reinstate a ban on assault weapons.

At the same time, she has sought to moderate her image on guns ahead of Election Day. She has spoken multiple times about being a gun owner, joking in an appearance with Oprah Winfrey that anyone breaking into her house would be “getting shot.”

Vice President Kamala Harris revealed that she owns a Glock gun during the Democratic ticket’s interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes” Monday night.

Harris told Bill Whitaker that she has fired the gun at a gun range and has had it for “quite some time.”

Harris told the nation that she was a gun owner during her debate against former President Donald Trump, who withdrew from the traditional interview with “60 Minutes” last week.

Harris initially acknowledged that she had a gun when she was a U.S. Senator and launched her 2019 bid for the Democratic nomination in 2020.
