Check out what Fox News reported:
The Vanderbilt Commodores recorded arguably the biggest win in program history Saturday by upsetting top-ranked Alabama, 40-35.
The Crimson Tide won the opening toss and deferred. And Vanderbilt immediately drove down the field for a 7-yard touchdown run by Sedrick Alexander to take the lead. It was the first time since 2007 Vandy had opened a game against Alabama with a touchdown, and that was Nick Saban’s second game as coach.
Alabama rallied and won that day 24-10.The Commodores carried a 23-14 lead into the locker room at halftime.Vanderbilt added 17 points in the second half and held off a furious comeback attempt from No. 1 Alabama to secure the upset victory in Nashville
Vanderbilt fans danced onto the field, jumping up and down as they celebrated the school’s historic win on Saturday. Fans eventually tore down a goal post, carried it out of the stadium and rang out sweet sounds of victory. Then they toted the goal post just over a couple miles, before tossing it into the Cumberland River.

Vanderbilt upset No. 1 Alabama, 40-35, on Saturday. As could be — or should be — expected, fans at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville went crazy to celebrate the Commodores’ first-ever win over a top-five team.
Not only did the crowd storm the field, but the goal posts came down
Did those fans carry the goal posts all the way to Broadway in downtown Nashville two miles away? Yes, they did. Adrenaline can do wonders for a pumped-up fan base after beating one of college football’s perennial powers.
ADVERTISEMENTThose fans may also have been fueled by a quote from former Alabama coach Nick Saban, dismissing Vanderbilt as a tough place for SEC football teams to play.
“The only place that’s not hard to play in the SEC is Vanderbilt,” Saban said recently on The Pat McAfee Show.

Nashville Fire Department retrieves the goalpost from the Cumberland River and it is being turned over to Vanderbilt where it will probably be cut up for fans for a donation for the SEC fine. @VandyAD @VandyFootball @NashvilleFD #Vanderbiltgoalpost #AnchorDown pic.twitter.com/sY2UcB2h3m
