Polls provide a snapshot of what voters think about the candidates currently running in the presidential race, but those numbers can vary widely from one survey to the next.
One way to gauge public sentiment more directly involves observing how candidates are greeted when they enter a crowded stadium. Both President Donald Trump and Kamala Harris’ running mate Tim Walz recently attended college football games, and the response from fans couldn’t have been more different.
As Breitbart reported:
Former President Donald Trump received a loud welcome from the crowd attending the college football game between the University of Alabama and the University of Georgia.
Trump’s guests included Kid Rock, Hank Williams Jr., John Daly, Tommy Tuberville, Sen. Steve Daines, and Sen. Katie Britt. The former president was recognized by the announcer.
Video clips of Trump’s attendance spread widely across social media:

When Walz attended a game in Michigan, however, the reception was notably less enthusiastic.
According to Fox News:
Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate attended Saturday’s game between Minnesota and Michigan in Ann Arbor, taking in the action from a suite along with former U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke.
The Golden Gophers trailed by as many as 17 points early, but they staged a late comeback by scoring three touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
However, it was too little too late, and the 12th-ranked defending champions came away with a 27-24 victory.
When it came time for Walz to exit the Big House, fans waited outside and gave him a harsh farewell.
Several in attendance booed him, with another fan even yelling “Get out of here.”
Here’s some additional coverage of the crowds’ disparate reactions:
