Given their efforts to demonize him at every opportunity, President Donald Trump nevertheless had kind words to describe phone calls he received from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris after the most recent attempt on his life.
Trump discussed the matter during a recent campaign event in Michigan, according to The Hill:
“He was so nice to me yesterday. In one way I sort of wish the call wasn’t made, because I do feel a little — he’s so nice. ‘I’m so sorry about what happened,’ and all that,” Trump said at a campaign town hall in Michigan, recounting his call with Biden on Monday.
“Same with Kamala today. She could not have been nicer,” Trump added. “But the fact is, we have to have people that are respected by the opponent.”
Earlier in the event, Trump referred to the “very nice call” he had with Harris, eliciting boos from the crowd.
“No, it was very nice,” Trump said as the crowd jeered.
Meanwhile, many political pundits and social media commentators have attempted to draw a straight line from the anti-Trump rhetoric on the left to the multiple assassination attempts against him.

Trump survives a third assassination attempt as a result of a relentless & coordinated decade-long smear campaign from the corrupt media establishment.Media Headline:

I’m not interested in “the rhetoric on both sides” today. Trump is the target. He’s survived two assassination attempts. He’s in danger and it’s probably too late to de-radicalize everyone who thinks the country will end if he wins. My latest for @cnn pic.twitter.com/4xD2NXGWT4

Trump himself cited the rhetoric of Biden and Harris as contributing factors in the threats he continues to face.
As the New York Post reported:
Former President Donald Trump said Monday that the man who allegedly tried to assassinate him as he golfed Sunday was motivated by the “rhetoric” of President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
“He believed the rhetoric of Biden and Harris, and he acted on it,” the Republican presidential nominee, 78, told Fox News.
“Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country, and they are the ones that are destroying the country — both from the inside and out.”
