One of the largest labor unions in the nation, The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, just released internal polling data of it’s members — and the results are astounding!

In a shock move — they almost immediately announced their decision after releasing the poll data: for the first time since 1996, the Teamsters Union won’t endorse anyone; including Kamala Harris!
“This is something that hasn’t happened in decades.”
“Unions were a critical component of Biden’s coalition in 2020.”

Even CNN couldn’t keep from expressing their surprise that President Trump was able to pull off upsetting such an historically democrat-aligned voting block. And not by a small margin! Teamsters favor President Trump over Kamala nearly 2 to 1!
JUST IN: Teamsters will *not* endorse for president after their member polling gave Donald Trump an overwhelming lead over Kamala Harris.

Considering that Union Members tend to vote at much higher ratios than average, this could be a huge insight into what election day might actually look like! Here’s CNN with some of the historic context:
It’s the first time in nearly three decades that the union has not endorsed a presidential candidate.
The decision from the union comes after its board and president, Sean O’Brien, met with both Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. O’Brien also spoke at the Republican National Convention in July, though his speech largely shied away from partisan politics. He said he asked both major parties for a speaking slot at their convention but only the Republicans accepted.
Ahead of their decision, the Teamsters shared internal data showing that a majority of members supported Trump over Harris. According to an electronic member poll that was initiated after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race, about 60% of members believed the union should endorse Trump while 34% supported Harris. About 6% said they supported another candidate.
The Teamsters endorsed Trump’s opponents, Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Biden in 2020, but those endorsements came under previous leadership. While union members are thought of as a traditionally Democratic voting bloc, Trump has been working to make inroads among rank-and-file members.
Not surprisingly, The Teamsters reported the largest legal donation to the Republican National Committee’s convention fund in January. More on that from a current Fox News story, and on the meetings that President Trump has been having with Teamster leadership in his bid to swing the giant voting block his direction:
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters’ political action committee reported a $45,000 donation to the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) convention fund last month in a stark departure from the union’s history of giving primarily to Democrats.
The Teamsters PAC — known formally as Democrat, Republican, Independent Voter Education — earmarked the donation on Jan. 25, according to federal elections filings reviewed by Fox News Digital. The contribution was reported weeks after former President Trump, the clear front-runner to secure the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, met with Teamsters President Sean O’Brien and days before a second meeting between the two on January 31.
The donation is likely to raise eyebrows as Trump continues to vie for the Teamsters’ endorsement. After his most recent meeting with O’Brien on Jan. 31, Trump told reporters the conversation was productive and that while the union typically supports Democrats, “stranger things have happened,” adding that rank-and-file union members largely support him.

While it may seem strange that the Teamsters would choose not to support President Trump officially with an endorsement, my feeling is they are simultaneously attempting to maintain the relevance of their voting power while balancing the wide-ranging political leanings of it’s membership.
I know firsthand, dues paying Teamster members are largely Trump supporters.
When they vote, they’re voting for their best interest.

They may have failed to give the unified endorsement, but they forked over the cash… and they very nonchalantly made their internal polling numbers known prior to announcing no endorsement this year.
Considering how democrat-leaning the Teamsters Union has been, I would count that as a huge win for President Trump, and a much larger loss for Kamala-Walz.
