You can watch the live feed of President Trump’s remarks to the prestigious group here:
One statement stands out for it’s crisp clearness in the letter released by the police organization: “Our members carefully considered the positions of the candidates on the issues and there was no doubt — zero doubt — as to who they want as our president.”
It doesn’t seem to me as if the police in America have forgotten who called for their “defunding” a few years ago (and conveniently pretended she didn’t when it suited her to flip-flop, once again).
That is exactly what Patrick Yoes, the President of the police organization, drew attention to in his remarks announcing the endorsement. Here is that story from the NFOP website:
Patrick Yoes, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, announced today that the members of the FOP voted to endorse Donald J. Trump for President of the United States.
“Public safety and border security will be important issues in the last months of this campaign,” Yoes said. “Our members carefully considered the positions of the candidates on the issues and there was no doubt—zero doubt—as to who they want as our President for the next four years: Donald J. Trump.”
ADVERTISEMENTThe FOP’s endorsement process is unique in that every member has the opportunity, through our 46 State Lodges, to make their choice known to the National Trustee. Once informed by the membership as to their choice, the National Trustee casts his or her vote at our National Board meeting. In order to secure our endorsement, the candidate needs the support of two-thirds of the State Lodges, a benchmark former President Trump easily cleared.
“During his first term, President Trump made it clear he supported law enforcement and border security,” Yoes said. “In the summer of 2020, he stood with us when very few would. With his help, we defeated the ‘defund the police’ movement and, finally, we are seeing crime rates decrease. If we want to maintain these lower crime rates, we must re-elect Donald Trump.”
(emphasis added.)
For a little glimpse into President Trump’s remarks scheduled for 4pm EST in front of an NFOP gathering, here’s the Associated Press:
Trump is scheduled to address the FOP’s National Board of Trustees fall meeting in Charlotte. The FOP, the world’s largest organization of law enforcement officers, endorsed the former president on Friday, just as it did in 2016 and 2020.
The imagery of the former president and GOP nominee in a room of law enforcement officers offers Trump the platform to contrast their support with his characterization of Harris, a former San Francisco district attorney and California attorney general whom Trump has called the “ringleader” of a “Marxist attack on law enforcement” across the country.
“Kamala Harris will deliver crime, chaos, destruction and death,” Trump said last month in Michigan, one of many generalizations about an America under Harris. “You’ll see levels of crime that you’ve never seen before. … I will deliver law, order, safety and peace.”
It looks like the National Fraternal Order of Police agreed, and have taken their stand in full support of President Trump’s re-election. As the Kamala-Harris campaign faces allegations of paid-for-support, the Trump-Vance campaign keeps adding big wins to the endorsement list!
