The FBI has released new images via a Press Release on it’s website of what Thomas Crooks’ had with him when he tried to kill President Trump.
The FBI Special Agent in Charge of the ongoing investigation has also detailed more information about the online searches that Crooks conducted leading up to the assassination attempt.
First, here are the 4 photos released by the FBI:
Alongside the photos on the FBI website, the FBI has identified the rifle as a DPMS – Panther Arms AR15 chambered in 5.56 with an AEMS rail-mounted sight and a Magpul collapsible stock. The trunk photo is described by the FBI to show two IEDs alongside a remote detonator in the “off” position. The FBI also noted “devices had several problems in the way they were constructed”, but did not describe what those problems may be.
The photos of the rifle and backpack were taken by the FBI, while the photo looking into the trunk of Crooks’ vehicle was taken by the Allegheny County, PA Police Department and supplied to the FBI in the course of the investigation.
The FBI notes alongside the final photo of the AC unit, “This photo taken by the FBI Pittsburgh is not an evidence photo. It was taken during a tour of the site in the days following the shooting”, which I find interesting, considering it was widely reported that Crooks used a ladder fixed in place on the side of the building to access the roof – not an AC unit.
Here is a quick glance at Fox News for a little more on what potentially new information the FBI provided alongside the photo evidence:
While the FBI has not established a definitive motive for the shooter or any co-conspirators with advanced knowledge of the attack, Kevin Rojek, special agent in charge of the FBI Pittsburgh Field Office, told reporters during a press call that Crooks had “a sustained detailed effort to plan an attack on some event, meaning he looked at any number of events or targets.”
The 20-year-old gunman “became hyper-focused” on Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when it was announced in early July. He had no identifiable political ideology, Rojek added.
If you may recall, we have mentioned Kevin Rojek in a recent story. He is the Head of the FBI Pittsburgh Field Office which was previously reported to have been placed on administrative leave alongside four Secret Service field agents — all of whom were reportedly on the ground in Butler, PA at the time of the assassination attempt on President Trump.
Here is our recent story for anyone who wants to dig in further:
BREAKING: “Multiple” Secret Service Agents Put on Leave, New Whistleblowers Coming Forward!
I would point out that it was confirmed by the US Secret Service that “administrative leave” in this instance meant that they would still be working out of the Pittsburgh FBI Field Office, but would not be involved in anything operational, including security planning.
Apparently, FBI Special Agent in Charge Rojek is still very much in charge of investigating President Trump’s assassination attempt, even while on “administrative leave” in relation to that investigation. Maybe I am missing something, but I can’t help but find that a bit odd.
Rojek gave the following information to reporters at the same time the new photos were released, via the same Fox News story referenced above:
“The subject registered to attend the rally, and that same day he specifically searched for, ‘How far was Oswald from Kennedy?’ ‘Where will Trump speak from at Butler Farm Show,’ ‘Butler Farm show podium,’ and ‘Butler Farm show photos,'” Rojek further explained.
“On July 8, the subject search ‘AGR international.’ And on July 10, he searched ‘weather in Butler,’ and the 30 days prior to the attack, the subject conducted more than 60 searches related to President Biden and former President Trump.”
He also noted “specific searches conducted on July 5 to include, ‘When is the DNC convention?’ and ‘When is the RNC in 2024?’”
That anyone could create such a digital fingerprint with those types of searches and not raise red flags among U.S. intelligence communities boggles the mind. At least, it boggles my mind. But so does almost everything else about that fateful day in Butler, PA — including the simple fact that President Trump survived.
Whoever was truly behind that attack, I suspect one thing is certain; President Trump’s survival was definitely not part of the plan.
