Gavin Newsom: “I’ve Been Told to Say” Nomination of Kamala Harris Was “Open Process”

When Joe Biden dropped out of the race, several names were being floated around as his replacement.

Names like Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Gretchen Whitmer — and California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Then, suddenly — overnight it seemed — all of these people threw themselves behind Kamala Harris, just like that.

Harris made history as the fastest candidate to be nominated as the Democrat presidential candidate — no votes required!

Now, Gavin Newsom, just laughed at the entirely undemocratic process — what he calls the “30-minute convention” — that crowned Kamala as Democrat nominee.

While appearing on a podcast called Pod Save America, he was asked about the nomination process (a.k.a political coup).

And, Newsom couldn’t hold back.

Here was his response:

Jesus Christ.

They aren’t even trying to hide it anymore.

This clip of Newsom is going viral, with folks on social media shocked at how brazen Democrats are becoming.

Take a look at these responses:

The Washington Examiner had this to say:

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) mocked the short process the Democratic Party used to replace President Joe Biden with Vice President Kamala Harris on a podcast on Friday.

When asked about the “switch” from Biden to Harris, Newsom sarcastically repeated points that Democrats had stated about the event.

“Now, we went through a very open process, a very inclusive process,” Newsom said, shifting the tone of his voice and prompting laughter from the hosts of Pod Save America, which is managed by several former Obama staffers.

“It was bottom-up, I don’t know if you know that,” he said. “That’s what I’ve been told to say.”

Newsom then chuckled as Jon Favreau, who was Obama’s former director of speechwriting, said it was a “blitz primary,” an election method several Democrats proposed to replace Biden. It would’ve seen delegates vote for several candidates, who would then campaign before a final decision was made.

In reality, Harris garnered the endorsements of several high-profile Democrats immediately after Biden’s announcement and quickly shored up support to become the party’s nominee. Some criticized the Democratic Party for what they viewed as an un-Democratic process in which voters didn’t get to choose Harris.

Breitbart added:

“I’ve been told to say” the nomination process for Vice President Kamala Harris was “a very open process, a very inclusive process,” Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) admitted Friday on a far-left podcast.

The so-called “democratic” party did not go through a democratic process. Democrat party leaders coronated Harris, who received zero Democrat primary votes, nullifying about 14 million primary votes cast for President Joe Biden. Harris officially accepted her party’s nomination Thursday.

“We went through a very open process, a very inclusive process. It was bottom-up, I don’t know if you know that. That’s what I’ve been told to say,” Newsom laughed on the Pod Save America podcast:
