Final Insult: DNC Pushes Biden’s Rambling Speech Out Of Prime-Time

The Democratic National Convention began Monday in Chicago, and Joe Biden was among the speakers scheduled to address the party.

By the time he actually made it to the stage, however, much of the audience had already tuned out. After party leaders forced him out of the 2024 presidential race, some Biden loyalists saw the delay of his speech as an act that added insult to injury.

As the New York Post reported:

Biden mangled his words when discussing the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

“The decision overturning Roe v. Wade, that you heard earlier tonight, the United States Supreme Court majority wrote the following: Quote, women are not without electrical, are not, not allowed, are not without electoral or political power,” he said.

Biden was set to speak at 9:50 p.m. local time, but his speaking time was delayed by verbose remarks by his warm-up speakers, including Hillary Clinton and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) — who gushed over Biden’s tenure after forcing him to step aside.

The delay meant the president was pushed out of prime time.

Biden ended up speaking at 10:27 p.m. local time — 11:27 p.m. Eastern — limiting the number of live viewers. About half of Americans live in the Eastern time zone.

He wrapped up well after midnight in New York.

A Biden aide told Axios: “This is awful. He literally set up a campaign and handed it over to them — do they have to cut him out of prime time?”

Some of the absurd statements and outright lies delivered during the first night of the DNC were shared widely on social media:

To her credit, CNN host Kaitlan Collins confronted Biden ahead of his speech about reports that his own party forced him out of the race. As usual, however, Biden’s response only created more confusion.

According to the Daily Caller:

“Donald Trump claims that you were pushed out from the top of the ticket and this amounts to a coup from your party. What do you make of those claims?” Collins asked.

“His ability is still questionable,” Biden answered, shaking his hand.

“His what?” Collins asked as Biden gestured at her with a dismissive smile.

Here’s what Trump had to say about the Democratic effort to replace Biden on the presidential ticket:
