Popular Trader Joe’s Item Recalled

Over 653,000 Trader Joe’s scented candles have been recalled.

Trader Joe’s mango tangerine scented candles have been revealed according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

In a recent alert the CPSC reported Trader Joe’s mango scented candles are a “fire hazard.”

Trader Joe’s further added, “The candle flame can spread from the wick to the wax, causing a larger than expected flame, posing a fire hazard.”

Here’s what Fox Business reported:

A recall of approximately 653,000 Trader Joe’s mango tangerine scented candles is underway, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The recall, announced Thursday in a CSPC alert, was precipitated by a “fire hazard” that the limited-time seasonal 5.7-ounce candles may carry for Trader Joe’s customers.

When lit, the candle flame “can spread from the wick to the wax, causing a larger than expected flame, posing a fire hazard,” the grocery store chain said.

Sales of the recalled candles, which all sport the SKU number 56879 on their bottoms, occurred at Trader Joe’s locations across the country in June.

Per NBC News:

Trader Joe’s is recalling 653,000 scented candles because they pose an elevated fire hazard.

In a release on the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website posted Thursday, Trader Joe’s said the flame on its Mango Tangerine candles can spread from the wick to the wax, causing a larger than expected flame.

The products were sold in June.

Trader Joe’s said it had received three reports of minor property damage and two reports of minor burns from users of the products.

Users should return the candle to any Trader Joe’s store for a full cash refund of $4, or complete a product feedback form online to receive a $4 Trader Joe’s gift card by mail. Consumers will receive a response from Customer Relations requesting a receipt or a photo of the candle
