Free Abortions And Vasectomies Will Be Given To DNC Attendees In Chicago

Attendees at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago will be offered free abortions and vasectomies.

Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, which is based in Missouri and parts of Illinois, will send a mobile abortion clinic near the venue where the DNC will take place.

The New York Times reported medication abortions will take place both days of the convention, and vasectomies will only be offered on Monday.

Dr. Colleen McNicholas, the chief medical officer of Planned Parenthood Great Rivers stated, “There are going to be people traveling to Chicago from all over the country.”

A Mobile Health Clinic by Planned Parenthood is offering free abortions for DNC attendees in Chicago on Aug. 19 and Aug. 20.

They will be parked next to Chicago abortion fund and The Wi3ner Circle, a popular Chicago hot dog restaurant.

Here’s what The New York Post reported:

Attendees at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago will have the opportunity to get a free abortion or vasectomy just blocks away from the event — and vasectomy appointments are filling up fast.

Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, which serves most of Missouri and part of southern Illinois, is sending a mobile health center to the Windy City’s West Loop to offer the reproductive services on Monday and Tuesday.

Medication abortions are reportedly available on both days, with vasectomies being exclusively offered Monday, according to The New York Times.

Vasectomies are reportedly in high demand and there’s already a waiting list.

“There are going to be people traveling to Chicago from all over the country,” Dr. Colleen McNicholas, the chief medical officer of Planned Parenthood Great Rivers told the paper. “And I think we should be doing what we can as health care providers to show what the impact of good policy and bad policy is.”

Per The New York Times:

While delegates are in Chicago for next week’s Democratic National Convention, they will engage in the typical pageantry and traditions: They’ll vote for their nominee, pose for photos with elected officials, and show off their state with cool buttons or themed hats.

They will also have the option of getting a free vasectomy or a medication abortion just blocks away.

A mobile health center run by Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, which serves much of Missouri and part of southern Illinois, plans to park itself near the convention and offer those services early next week to anybody who makes an appointment, delegate or not. (There is so much interest in the vasectomy appointments, I’m told, there is already a waiting list.)

It’s a way of showcasing how reproductive health care providers have had to get creative when operating in or near states like Missouri, which borders Illinois and has a near-total abortion ban.
