PA Governor Josh Shapiro Cancels Weekend Trip, Could Be Major Sign He’s Kamala’s VP Pick

Democrat Governor Josh Shapiro’s latest move may be a sign he’s Kamala Harris’ Vice President pick.

CNBC has reported that Shapiro has canceled two events in the Hamptons which were fundraisers for his own campaign committee.

Shapiro’s office wrote, “The Governor’s trip was planned several weeks ago and included several fundraisers for his own campaign committee.”

Many political analysts are speculating that Shapiro halted his own campaign committee fundraiser because he’s gearing up to be Harris’ VP pick.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro has canceled a trip to the ritzy New York beach enclave of the Hamptons, as he is being considered to be Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter.

Shapiro was supposed to go to at least two events in the Hamptons, including a meet and greet with wealthy donors at the home of public relations executive Mike Kempner.

“The Governor’s trip was planned several weeks ago and included several fundraisers for his own campaign committee,” Shapiro spokesman Manuel Bonder confirmed to NBC News. “His schedule has changed and he is no longer traveling to the Hamptons this weekend.”

The meeting at Kempner’s home in Water Mill, New York, on Sunday was set to have more than 100 people attend, including those from the legal, sports and finance industries, the person explained. This person was granted anonymity in order to speak freely about a private matter.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro canceled a fundraising trip to the Hamptons this weekend amid speculation he could be Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate in the 2024 general election.

“The Governor’s trip was planned several weeks ago and included several fundraisers for his own campaign committee,” Shapiro’s spokesperson said on Thursday. “His schedule has changed and he is no longer traveling to the Hamptons this weekend.”

Shapiro is among six candidates who had calls with Harris’ vetting team this week as the vice president searches for her running mate in the 2024 general election, CBS News reported.

Shapiro is among the top tier of candidates under consideration to serve as Harris’ running mate. The other candidates on the tier include Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Harris is expected to make a pick for her running mate by Monday.
