Hillary Clinton Gives Democrat Campaign Speech At Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee’s Funeral


Hillary Clinton was invited to the stage to speak at Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee’s Funeral.

Clinton told the crowd of mourners, “We lost her too soon. We could use her voice now.”

Clinton added, “ come next January, when our first woman president takes the oath of office, I’ll be thinking of Sheila — wondering what up in heaven she’s wearing.”

But come next January, when our first woman president takes the oath of office, I’ll be thinking of Sheila — wondering what up in heaven she’s wearing, what magnificent long scarf she has wrapped around herself, what hairdo she has managed to achieve for this special occasion.

I’ll be thinking of her and Shirley Chisholm and Barbara Jordan, and all the generations of women who helped to make that day possible because they never stopped believing. You know, Sojourner Truth said, “If the first woman God ever made was strong enough to turn the world upside down all alone, these women together ought to be able to turn it back and get it right side up again.”

A Celebration of Life Service was held for late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee on Thursday.

Jackson Lee died last month after a fight with pancreatic cancer.

Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee from Houston dies at age 74

Jackson spent more than 30 years representing the Houston area as a judge, city councilwoman, and eventually in Congress.

Thursday’s service is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Vice President Kamala Harris, former president Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and California Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi are expected to be among the guests at the service.
