Does Kamala’s Running Mate Selection Matter?

Ever since President Trump’s nomination, much of the talk has been about the 45th and soon-t0-be 47th President’s potential VP pick – BUT with President Trump’s selection of Ohio junior Senator, JD Vance, as his running mate, and Kamala Harris’s sudden coronation as Democrat Presidential nominee, the media’s shifted its attention to Kamala’s possible running mate selection.

But speculation aside, here’s the real question…does her choice matter?

Well, based on her Pennsylvania rally appearance yesterday with the state’s Democrat Governor, Josh Shapiro, it might not…

Is this a case of Shapiro being potentially the wrong pick?

My guess, probably not.

Hey, we know the media is currently astroturfing Kamala’s popularity like crazy, so how much genuine excitement for her running mate selection could there actually be?

It’s a question that probably only a microscope can answer, but let’s take a look at her current top candiates anyways as reported by FOX News

Here are five top Democrats who are believed to still be in contention to serve as the vice president’s running mate…

The 60-year-old (Mark) Kelly, a former Navy pilot and NASA astronaut, has represented swing state Arizona in the Senate since 2020.

(Josh) Shapiro, 51, served six years as Pennsylvania’s attorney general before winning election as governor in 2022.

The 60-year-old (Tim) Walz is in his second term as governor of Minnesota, a state that Democrats have reliably won in presidential elections but which is now considered to be competitive.

The former South Bend, Indiana, mayor (Pete Buttigieg) went from long shot to a top contender for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

The 46-year-old (Andy) Beshear was elected attorney general in 2015 and four years later won election as governor in deep red Kentucky.

All these guys – and notice they’re all guys – will be tap-dancing over the next week to be Kamala’s sidekick.

But again, does any of it matter?

Kamala’s Pennsylvania appearance with Governor Shapiro got about the same crowd as a good sized movie theatre on a Saturaday night.

So how big of a deal could her running mate selection pick be nationally?

Time will tell.

But for now, let’s end on a bright note with Trump’s VP pick, JD Vance…
