Former San Fransisco Giants pitcher Reyes Moronta died at the age of 31.
According to ESPN, Moronta died in a driving accident in his home country of the Dominican Republic.
MLB insider Héctor Gómez reported Moronta was killed after flipping over his four-wheeler.
The MLBPA in a statement shared, “The player community was shocked and saddened to learn of Reyes Moronta’s death in a traffic accident Sunday.”

The Bravos de León of the Mexican League, his most recent team, confirmed his death in a post on X.
Moronta was driving a four-wheeler home at the time of the accident, according to MLB insider Héctor Gómez — who shared a photo of a four-wheeler on its side and cited a person “very close” to Moronta in a post on X.
“The player community was shocked and saddened to learn of Reyes Moronta’s death in a traffic accident Sunday,” the MLBPA said in a statement. “We send our heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends in his native Dominican Republic and throughout the game.

Former major league pitcher Reyes Moronta, who dominated out of the San Francisco Giants’ bullpen for two seasons, died Sunday. He was 31.
According to multiple reports, Moronta died in a traffic accident in his home country of the Dominican Republic.
Moronta’s death was confirmed on social media early Monday morning by the Mexican Baseball League and by the Bravos de Leon, his former team in the league.
Moronta spent parts of seven seasons with four different major league teams, including four-plus seasons with the Giants, from 2017 to 2023. The right-hander appeared in two games last season with the Los Angeles Angels before signing earlier this year with the Bravos de Leon, who released him last week.
