Donald Trump Says He Will Debate Kamala Harris Multiple Times, Names Potential Host He’s “Not Thrilled” About

In a call with reporters, Donald Trump said he would “absolutely” debate Kamala Harris should she become the Democratic presidential nominee.

Trump said he would debate Harris multiple times.

“I would be willing to do more than one debate, actually,” Trump said, according to CNBC.

“I think if you’re in the Democratic nominee or Republican nominee, you really have an obligation to debate,” he said.

Per CNBC:

Trump in May had agreed to the June debate with Biden, which was hosted by CNN, and to a second debate to be held Sept. 10, which would have been hosted by ABC News.

On Tuesday, Trump suggested that any debate with Harris would not be hosted by ABC.

“I’m not thrilled about ABC because [of] fake news I watched last night,” Trump said. “They’re actually trying to make a hero out of Joe Biden when he was the worst president in history, and they were doing things like with Kamala, like what a wonderful thing that she is running.”

“I don’t like the idea of ABC.”

Trump also said he expected that his debate against Harris would have the same result as his debate against Biden.

“I want to debate her and she’ll be no different because they have the same policies,” Trump said.

“She has some bad moments. Her moments are almost as bad as his,” Trump previously said.

“She’s the same as Biden, [but] more radical,” Trump told reporters, according to Newsweek.

“She’s a radical person and this country doesn’t want a radical left person to destroy it. She’s far more radical than he is. She wants open borders. She wants things that nobody wants,” he added.

Newsweek reports:

Former President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he was open to debating Vice President Kamala Harris, committing for the first time to at least one debate with the new presumptive Democratic nominee for president as he attacked her record on immigration and border security.

As Harris held her first official campaign event, Trump dialed into a press call alongside former and current border patrol union representatives, calling out the VP for her role as “border czar”.

At the same time, Republicans in Congress sought to introduce a resolution condemning Harris for her work on the border during the Biden administration, suggesting that immigration will be a galvanizing line of attack should Harris become the official nominee.

A recent poll shows Trump is seen as better than Harris at handling immigration by a margin of 15 points.
