Obama Starts To Receive Backlash For Not Speedily Endorsing Kamala Harris

Former President Barack Obama is receiving backlash for not speedily endorsing Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee.

Radio host Charlamagne is one of Obama’s biggest critics for not endorsing Harris.

The radio host stated, “I don’t want to hear nothing from former President Obama and then about a process or an open primary because y’all didn’t care about primaries a year ago when people were calling for them against Biden.”

Here’s what The Daily Wire reported:

Charlamagne Tha God said he’s not happy with former President Barack Obama after Obama didn’t endorse Vice President Kamala Harris in his statement after President Joe Biden announced he was stepping out of the race.
During the radio host’s show on Monday on “The Breakfast Club,” he and political commentator Angela Rye agreed that Obama’s on the “wrong side of history” after he declined on Sunday to come out and endorse Harris for the Democratic Presidential nominee.

“I don’t want to hear nothing from former President Obama and then about a process or an open primary because y’all didn’t care about primaries a year ago when people were calling for them against Biden,” the radio host said. “So, don’t start caring about primaries now.”

“Yeah, I don’t disagree with that at all,” Rye replied. “Actually, like I said, I was really frustrated with President Obama. We’ve talked about this before, but when I was the executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus, any time we were on the other side of President Obama, it was a real frustrating moment.”

“What I’m telling you is we had a lot of issues … with the Obama administration, and it was really frustrating when folks didn’t see that we were trying to represent the best interests of black folks,” she added. “And when we clashed with that administration, folks dragged us. We used to get hate mail and death threats, you know, for being on the other side of President Obama.”

Per Politico:

Former President Barack Obama endorsed an open Democratic primary process at the convention next month — less than an hour after former President Bill Clinton endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

“I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges,” Obama said in a statement, which did not mention Harris. “I believe that Joe Biden’s vision of a generous, prosperous, and united America that provides opportunity for everyone will be on full display at the Democratic Convention in August.”

Earlier Sunday, a joint statement between Clinton and former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton said the two were backing Harris: “Now is the time to support Kamala Harris and fight with everything we’ve got to elect her.”

Their statements came soon after President Joe Biden announced he would not be seeking reelection and endorsed Harris to replace him at the top of the ticket. Harris announced shortly after that with Biden’s support, she would seek the Democratic nomination.
