Secret Service Blames “Sloped Roof” For Why They Didn’t Secure Rally Rooftop

The chief of Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, is now blaming a “sloped roof” for preventing them from securing the rooftop Trump’s would-be assassin used to shoot at the rally.

We’ve already reported that the Secret Service identified the rooftop that the gunman shot from at Trump’s Pennsylvania rally this past weekend as a threat, but still did NOTHING to secure it.

And now, we know why.

Or at least why USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle says they didn't secure the roof.

Apparently, it was too dangerous for Secret Service to climb on top of.

"That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point," Cheatle told ABC News, "And so, you know, there's a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn't want to put somebody up on a sloped roof.”

Yeah, sure wouldn't want anyone to get injured...

Wall Street Journal reports:

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle addressed one of the central mysteries in the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump: how Thomas Matthew Crooks was able to climb onto the top of a nearby building and have a clear sightline to Trump without being stopped. A Secret Service sniper shot and killed the suspected gunman just moments after he fired multiple rounds. Trump was grazed in the ear and a rally-goer was killed.

In an interview with ABC News, Cheatle said: “That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there's a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn't want to put somebody up on a sloped roof.” She added “the decision was made to secure the building from inside.”

It doesn't make any sense.

If a 20-year-old man can climb on top of a slightly "sloped" roof using a 5-foot ladder while onlookers watch and yell for police's attention, so can the goddamn Secret Service.

The roof in question, by the way, was sloped less than 10 degrees.

And, snipers were actually positioned on much more "sloped" roofs across from the building in question.

For reference, in the photo below, the red buildings were where Secret Service snipers shot the shooter from.

Officers sure didn't seem to have any trouble climbing up there after taking out the shooter...
