Good News: Doctors Update Status For Two Rallygoers Injured In Trump Assassination Attempt

As the family and friends of Corey Comperatore mourn his death after he was fatally shot by a would-be assassin targeting Donald Trump at a rally over the weekend, two others injured in the incident have received a positive medical update.

Both James Copenhaver and David Dutch were both critically injured, but their conditions have since been upgraded to stable.

As the Bergen Record reported:

The man who was killed was identified early Sunday as Corey Comperatore a father of two girls, a firefighter and avid Trump supporter.

Trump has lent his support to a GoFundMe campaign for rally attendees and victims.

The two injured attendees were both said to be in stable condition on Sunday night.

Copenhaver is from Moon, Pennsylvania; Dutch is from New Kensington, Pennsylvania. Both towns are a short drive from Butler, where the rally was held.

Moon is a suburb of Pittsburgh and lies about 12 miles outside of the city. New Kensington is a neighboring town about 30 miles outside of Butler.

Stories of survival and heroism continue to emerge in the aftermath of Saturday’s shooting:

More details have emerged about the two individuals injured at the rally, including  Dutch’s military background.

According to Military.com:

Dutch, of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, is a Marine Corps veteran who served during the Gulf War, according to his service record, which was provided to Military.com by the service Monday.

He is a member of the Marine Corps League, or MCL District 8, according to a social media post from the organization Sunday.

“I am sure everyone has seen the news and are appalled at how divided we have become. Well, it has finally hit home to the League. It is with great sadness that I report that one of the civilians shot at the rally was one of our own,” Matt Popovich, the vice commandant, said in a now-edited post from Sunday.
