Fed Up With California, Elon Musk is Moving X and SpaceX Headquarters to Texas

Elon Musk just announced that he will be moving the headquarters for SpaceX and his social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to Texas.

Right now, it is based in California. But, Musk has had it with the state’s far-left policies that attack families and companies.

Today on X, Elon replied to a post about Gavin Newsom signing a new California law that makes it illegal for school districts to require teachers to tell parents if their kid changes their so-called gender identity or sexual orientation. He called it the “final straw” and says because of this law and several others, he will be moving Space X out of the state to Starbase, TX.

In another post, Musk said X headquarters will be moving to Austin, TX.

Right now, X is based in San Francisco, where Musk says he is sick of having to dodge “gangs of violent drug addicts” to enter and leave the building.

Reuters reported:

Social media platform X Corp and rocket company SpaceX will move their headquarters to Texas from California, billionaire Elon Musk, who controls both companies, said on Tuesday.
A new California law that forbids school districts from requiring teachers to notify parents when a child changes gender identity or sexual orientation was one reason for the move, Musk said, calling it the “last straw.”
“Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies” Musk said posts on X in explaining the decision.
Forbes added some more information about the California law that drove Musk out:

Newsom signed the Support Academic Futures and Educators for Today’s Youth Act, or SAFETY Act—which prevents a school employee from being required “to disclose any information related to a pupil’s sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression to any other person without the pupil’s consent”—on Monday.

The law makes California the first state in the U.S. to ban policies that force schools to out students by requiring they notify parents if a student wants to use a name or pronoun other than what’s on their birth certificate, The Mercury News reported.

In a follow up tweet, Musk said he made it clear to Newsom “about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and companies to leave California to protect their children.”

Musk said the headquarters will be moved out of Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, a SpaceX complex and launch site near Brownsville, Texas.

X will move its headquarters from San Francisco to Austin, Musk added, saying: “Have had enough of dodging gangs of violent drug addicts just to get in and out of the building.”
