Donald Trump has been making progress with Black voters in recent months, due at least in part to the praise he has received from a number of hip-hop stars.
In the wake of an assassination attempt over the weekend, one rapper altered his own hit album cover, replacing his own face with Trump’s during a concert.
As Newsweek reported:
Almost immediately after Trump was shot in the ear during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13, social media users began using the rapper’s 2003 hit “Many Men (Wish Death)” in their reaction videos.
“Many men wish death upon me / Blood in my eye, dawg, and I can’t see / I’m tryin’ to be what I’m destined to be / And n****s tryin’ to take my life away,” 50 Cent sings on the intro of the track. (For reference, the “In Da Club” artist has long claimed he was shot nine times in his youth.)
Both sides of the aisle have utilized the track in their responses to the assassination attempt, with some using the song as a way to showcase Trump’s strength, while others used it to mock him.
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, for instance, shared a clip of what he called “The Hardest Edit of All Time”: Trump, his face streaked with blood, throwing his fist in the air as a rallying cry in the immediate aftermath of the shooting. “Many Men” played over the video.
Trump just won the election.
I already made this Trump hype video to “Many Men” by 50 Cent.
Now it hits even harder.

Clips of the concert quickly went viral on social media:

And the artist himself took to X with his own reaction:

Many other celebrities shared their own thoughts in the aftermath of the shooting.
As EuroNews reported:
Kid Rock, a known Trump supporter who has become a vocal figure for the far-right movement, posted a video to Instagram, yelling: “You fuck with Trump, you fuck with me.”
Rapper Soulja Boy reposted the video of the shooting, writing: “Ain’t no way they just shot at trump [mind-blown emoji].”
