Facebook Removes Trump Restrictions?

Well this is an interesting move by Meta/Facebook.

The Republican National Convention (RNC) is set to kick off in Milwaukee in just a few days.

Well, Trump just got a bit of good news that seems to be tied to the convention’s timing.

Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram, has decided to loosen the reins on Trump’s accounts on their platforms.

I wonder what inspired this move?

They’re saying it’s all about promoting equal “political expression” ahead of the RNC.

It’s like Facebook just gave Trump a gift for the RNC. ‘Here you, I won’t censor you..much.’

Some gift.

An odd move but I suppose it’s progress in the right direction.

I still don’t trust Facebook.

Red State reports:

The Republican National Convention (RNC) begins in less than a week in Milwaukee, where it’s expected that former President Donald Trump will be officially chosen as the party’s nominee in the November general election. Trump just got a bit of good news, which appears to be tied to the timing of the convention.

Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, has announced it will be easing restrictions on Trump’s accounts on its platforms, in the name of equal “political expression” ahead of the RNC.

Meta said in a statement:

“In assessing our responsibility to allow political expression, we believe that the American people should be able to hear from the nominees for President on the same basis, “As a result, former President Trump, as the nominee of the Republican Party, will no longer be subject to the heightened suspension penalties.”

Facebook doesn’t compare to Twitter and Gab when it comes to free speech.

And who could forget this little gem:
