Elon Musk Makes Donation To Pro-Trump Super PAC?

According to a Bloomberg report, Elon Musk has donated to a super PAC supporting President Trump.

The donation amount remains undisclosed, but the outlet said it’s a “sizable amount.”

Reports of Musk’s contribution follow the billionaire’s prior statement that he wouldn’t donate to either presidential candidate.

“Thank you so much for donating to support President Trump, Elon!” investigative journalist Laura Loomer said.

“I appreciate you changing your mind,” she added.

Per Bloomberg:

Billionaire Elon Musk has donated to a super political action committee working to elect Donald Trump to the White House, a major gambit by the world’s richest person to make his imprint on the US political landscape.

Musk has contributed to a low-profile group called America PAC, according to people familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity to detail his plans. It’s unclear how much Musk has given, but the people characterized the figure as a sizable amount. The PAC is next required to disclose its list of donors on July 15.

While Trump gains donations, major Democratic donors are reportedly withholding contributions if Joe Biden remains atop the party’s ticket.

From the New York Post:

America PAC was formed in Austin, Texas in May – where Musk’s electric car company Tesla is headquartered.

The group’s website encourages visitors to “register to vote” and “make a plan to vote early in person or by mail.”

“Vote and have your say if America can be a land of freedom and opportunity for all. We can have the greatest election victory in America’s history when you vote!” text on the website reads.

America PAC has spent at least $6.6 million on behalf of Trump, according to the New York Times.

Musk’s largest previous political donation was a $50,000 contribution to the McCarthy Victory Fund in 2017, and before that, he gave more than $35,000 to Obama Victory Fund in 2011, Federal Election Commission records show.

In March, Musk, the world’s richest man, crossed paths with Trump, 78, in Florida.

“I was at a breakfast at a friend’s place, and Donald Trump came by. That’s it,” Musk told former CNN anchor Don Lemon about the meeting, noting that Trump did “most of the talking” and did not ask for a campaign contribution.
