Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN) became the latest House Democrat to call on Joe Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential election.
Craig is the fifth House Democrat publicly calling for Biden to step aside, joining Reps. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ), Seth Moulton (D-MA), and Mike Quigley (D-IL).
According to Axios, Craig is the first swing-district House Democrat to make such calls.
“As an elected leader, I feel a responsibility to be honest about what I believe, even when it’s hard to hear. President Biden is a good man & I appreciate his lifetime of service. But I believe he should step aside for the next generation of leadership. The stakes are too high,” Craig said.

Axios reports:
Other Democrats have told Axios they believe Biden should step aside and more lawmakers are expected to publicly call for his withdrawal in the coming days.
Biden has repeatedly resisted calls to step aside.
His campaign communications director Michael Tyler said on MSNBC that the president understands “there are some concerns coming off the debate” but the campaign raised $38 million after that night and is “focused now on moving forward with the campaign and defeating Donald Trump.”
In the Senate, reports suggest a group of Democrats may soon call for Biden to withdraw from the race.
“Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-Va.) is attempting to assemble a group of Democratic senators to ask President Biden to exit the presidential race, according to two people with direct knowledge of the effort,” The Washington Post reports.

From The Washington Post:
Warner is telling Democratic senators that Biden can no longer remain in the election in the wake of his faltering debate performance, according to the people familiar with private conversations who spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak freely. Warner has told others that he is deeply concerned that Biden is not able to run a campaign that could beat former president Donald Trump.
ADVERTISEMENTWarner spokeswoman Rachel Cohen would neither confirm nor deny that the senator thinks Biden needs to drop out of the race, instead issuing a statement that read, “Like many other people in Washington and across the country, Senator Warner believes these are critical days for the president’s campaign, and he has made that clear to the White House.”
On Friday afternoon, Biden asserted from Wisconsin that he will “beat Donald Trump.”
“I’m not letting one 90-minute debate wipe out three and a half years of work. I’m staying in the race,” he said.
Biden also said in Wisconsin that he would beat Trump again in 2020.
