A suspected drunk driver reportedly killed three individuals and injured seven others after plowing into a July 4th barbecue in New York City.
The horrific incident occurred around 9 p.m. Thursday in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
Approximately 200 people gathered for a barbecue at a park near Water and Jackson streets.
“A gray Ford F-150 sped through an intersection, blew a stop sign then jumped the sidewalk and drove into the park, according to authorities,” PIX 11 reports.
“Three people are dead and seven others have been injured overnight after a suspected drunk driver plowed his vehicle into a park on the Lower East Side of New York City,” Good Morning America wrote.

PIX 11 reports:
Several people were trapped underneath the truck. Witnesses who saw what happened held the driver while police rushed to get to the scene, per the NYPD.
The driver, a 44-year-old man, allegedly reeked of alcohol, according to authorities.
A mother, 59-year-old Lucile Pinckney, and her son, 38-year-old Hernan Pinckney, were both killed in the crash, according to authorities. Another woman also died, but police have not identified her as of Thursday morning.
An 11-year-old child was among those hit by the truck, per police.

Per ABC 7 NY:
“Once he did that hard right turn so many people started screaming. He turned into the batting field, that’s where we normally barbecue. It’s a family that we all know. The Lower East Side bands together,” a neighbor said.
Police say Daniel Hyden, 44, of South Brunswick, New Jersey, is suspected of drunk driving. He was pinned down by good Samaritans and held until police arrived on the scene.

Mayor Eric Adams said that terrorism is not suspected at this time, although the investigation is ongoing.
