FDA Issues Warning After Chocolate Bar Causes 15-Year-Old Seizure

A 15-year-old girl, along with five others, was hospitalized after eating a chocolate bar that was infused with mushrooms and THC.

The FDA, in a new report, revealed a 15-year-old girl suffered seizures after eating a piece of
a Diamond Shruumz chocolate bar.

The 15-year-old girl and the five others who consumed the chocolate bar were taken to the intensive care unit and placed on ventilators.

The mushrooms in the chocolate bar did not contain any psilocybin, which is illegal in the United States.

A 15-year-old girl and five others have been hospitalized after eating chocolates infused with THC and mushrooms.

The patients suffered from seizures, the FDA said, with patients then intubated and put on ventilators in intensive care units.

All had consumed at least one piece of a Diamond Shruumz chocolate bar which contain THC and a ‘proprietary blend’ of mushrooms ‘with a kick’.

These mushrooms don’t contain psilocybin, which is illegal in the US at a federal level, but do contain other active compounds linked to better mood and wellbeing.

The Food and Drug Administration is warning that eating Diamond Shruumz-brand microdosing chocolate bars may cause seizures after people in four states fell ill after consuming the chocolate.

The agency shared last week that the victims suffered a variety of severe symptoms, including seizures, central nervous system depression, abnormal heart rates, agitation, nausea, vomiting, and hyper/hypotension.

Six of the eight victims needed to be hospitalized after consuming the candy bar, which the FDA said is sold nationwide. However, at which retailers are not known.

The FDA is also still working to determine what is causing the illnesses.

As for the chocolate bars, Diamond Shruumz’s website says they are made with a “primo proprietary blend of nootropic and functional mushrooms.”

The FDA is not aware of a specific flavor causing the illness, so as a result, it has issued a warning for eating any of the Diamond Shruumz microdosing chocolate bar flavors.
