‘My Heart Is Broken’: GOP Lawmaker’s Daughter, Son-In-Law Brutally Murdered By Gang

Haiti has long been among the world’s most dangerous nations, but the threat to locals and visitors alike has only increased in recent months.

Tragically, the daughter and son-in-law of one Republican lawmaker were reportedly among the latest to be mercilessly killed by the violent gangs who effectively rule the country.

As the New York Post reported:

Missouri Rep. Ben Baker’s daughter and son-in-law were killed in a gang attack while serving as missionaries in Haiti, he announced Friday.

“My heart is broken in a thousand pieces. I’ve never felt this kind of pain,” the Republican lawmaker wrote on Facebook early Friday.

Baker’s daughter, Natalie, and her husband, Davy Lloyd, died when they were “attacked by gangs” on Thursday evening, Baker claimed.

News of the deadly attack quickly spread on social media:

Davy and Natalie Lloyd and a staff member named Judes Montis were ambushed by three trucks full of gang members while coming out of a youth group service at Missions in Haiti in Port-au-Prince, according to the missionary organization’s Facebook page. While the armed men were stealing several vehicles and loading them up with loot from the mission, another gang arrived and the two groups violently clashed.

“Not sure what took place but one was shot and killed and now this gang went into full attack mode,” a missionary receiving reports in the US wrote. “Davy, Natalie and Jude [were] in my house at the end of the property using the star link internet to call me. So they are holed up in there, the gangs [have] shot all the windows out of the house and continue to shoot.”

Gang violence has been on the upswing across Haiti as the nation’s government has increasingly lost control of the island, as this video explains:
