Senator Rick Scott of Florida — a close ally of President Trump — has just officially entered the race to succeed Mitch McConnell as Senate Minority Leader.
He announced his bid on X:
Our country is in big trouble. Look at the border, the debt, inflation. Washington is broken.
We don’t need minor adjustments, we need a sea change to make Washington work for YOU. That’s what I’m fighting for and why I’m running to be the Senate Republican leader. pic.twitter.com/LiXH1s4qg5

Rick Scott’s bid for GOP leader poses a threat to the other RINO candidates currently in the race, like Senate Minority Whip John Thune and Sen. John Cornyn.
AP News has more details:
Florida Sen. Rick Scott said Wednesday that he will run for Senate Republican leader when Mitch McConnell steps down from the post, becoming the third Republican in the race.
South Dakota Sen. John Thune, the current No. 2 Republican in the Senate, and Texas Sen. John Cornyn have already announced they are running. McConnell said in February that he would step down from the post after November’s election but stay in the Senate.
Scott is a close ally of former President Donald Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, and is likely to win votes from some of Trump’s closest allies in the Senate. Scott was one of the first GOP lawmakers to attend Trump’s hush money trial in New York, accompanying the former president into the courtroom earlier this month and defending him on television afterward.

His announcement set social media ablaze with Democrat outrage:

But, President Trump is said to be “excited” about Rick Scott running for GOP leader.
From The Washington Times:
Sen. Rick Scott spoke to former President Donald Trump about entering the race to replace Mitch McConnell as Senate GOP leader, telling The Washington Times, “He was excited I’m getting in.”
The Florida Republican said he does not know if Mr. Trump will endorse him for the position but noted that he’s known the former president since before either of them left the business world to seek political office.
And, Vivek Ramaswamy has already endorsed him:
Rick Scott is *BY FAR* the best choice among those running for Senate Republican Leader. He successfully led a big business & a big state, there’s no doubt he can do this job. He also possesses a very rare quality in DC: caring about what *voters* actually want. I endorse him. https://t.co/bnIkMXzvwd
