Trump Announces Who He’s Considering To Appoint As Attorney General

President Trump has announced he’s considering Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton as his attorney general.

In a recent interview with KDFW, Trump was asked if he considered Paxton as his AG pick.

Trump responded, “I would, actually.”

“He’s very, very talented. I mean, we have a lot of people that want that one and will be very good at it. But he’s a very talented guy.” added Trump.

Paxton recently received major headlines after attending Trump’s ‘Hush Money’ trial in New York City.

As the attorney general of Texas, Paxton gained support from conservatives in Texas after he sued Pfizer for misrepresenting COVID-19 vaccines.

Here’s what ABC 3340 reported:

If he’s elected for a second term as president, Donald Trump said he would consider calling on Ken Paxton to be the U.S. attorney general.

Trump shared the news when asked about it during a recent interview with KDFW.

“I would, actually,” Trump said Saturday when KDFW inquired if he would tap Paxton for the position. “He’s very, very talented. I mean, we have a lot of people that want that one and will be very good at it. But he’s a very talented guy.”

Paxton has shown his support for Trump, as he went to court with Trump amid the former president’s hush money trial.

Paxton has also been through legal troubles of his own, and has railed against what he calls politically motivated prosecutions — a message that echoes Trump’s own.

Per The Hill:

Former President Trump said Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton would be a strong choice to run the Justice Department in a future Trump administration.
In a conversation Sunday with Fox 4 Dallas-Fort Worth at the National Rifle Association convention, Trump said he would consider Paxton for role of attorney general.

“We have a lot of people who want that one and will be very good at it. But he’s a very talented guy,” Trump said.
He also framed the attorney general’s acquittal in last year’s impeachment by the Texas House as a joint victory.
“I fought for him when he had the difficulty, and we won,” Trump said. “He had some people really after him, and I thought it was very unfair. He’s been a good attorney general.”

The two politicians have for the past year supported each other in their legal travails.

Paxton was at Trump’s hush money trial in New York last month to show his support for the former president, who is accused of improper payments related to the silencing of an adult film actor with whom he had allegedly had an affair.
