Amtrak Crashes Into Pickup Truck In New York, Three Reported Dead


An Amtrak train in upstate New York crashed into a pickup truck, resulting in the deaths of three people.

The northbound Amtrak train crashed into a Dodge pickup truck at around 8:00 pm on Friday night.

All three people pronounced dead on the scene were inside the pickup truck.

One of the victims has been identified as a 6-year-old boy; the other occupants were a 69-year-old male and a 66-year-old female.

None of the passengers or crew on the Amtrak were injured.

Three people, including a 6-year-old boy, were killed when an Amtrak train from the Big Apple slammed into a pickup truck in upstate New York.

The northbound train struck the Dodge truck shortly before 8 p.m. in North Tonawanda, a Niagara County town near Buffalo, police said.

“The North Tonawanda police and fire departments responded and made every effort to help save the three individuals inside the vehicle,” the upstate police department said in a press release.

“Despite their best efforts all three occupants were pronounced dead at the scene,” the release said. “The three occupants were a 69-year-old male, a 66-year-old female and a 6-year-old male.”

A child was among the three victims killed when a passenger train hit a pickup truck, officials said.

The northbound Amtrak train hit a Dodge truck Friday evening in North Tonawanda, New York, a small town along the Niagara River between Niagara Falls and Buffalo, police said.

The victims included a 6-year-old boy, a 66-year-old woman, and a 69-year-old man, North Tonawanda Police Department Captain Daryl Truty said in a statement posted on Saturday. The names of the victims had not been released as of Sunday morning.

None of the Amtrak crew or its 21 passengers were injured in the crash, Amtrak spokesperson Olivia Irvin said in a statement. The train was on its way from New York City to Niagara Falls when the accident happened.
