Watch: House Democrats Gang Up On Rep. Greene During Disorderly Congressional Hearing

U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has a reputation for speaking her mind, which she did during a particularly rowdy House Oversight Committee hearing this week.

The hearing on Thursday was called to discuss the effort to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress, but the discussion between Greene and Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Jasmine Crockett (D-GA) soon became heated.

As Fox News reported:

The House Oversight Committee had originally been convened to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt for refusing to comply with a subpoena to hand over an audio recording of President Biden’s interview with a special counsel.

The hearing quickly spiraled out of control, with lawmakers bickering with one another. Less than an hour after the hearing was underway, Greene took shots at her Democratic colleague, Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas.

“Do you know what we’re here for?” Crockett asked Greene, who shot back: “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading.”

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene traded barbs with Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jasmine Crockett during a train wreck of a House Oversight Committee hearing Thursday night in which the lawmakers took turns body-shaming each other.

Crockett took the comment about her eyelashes personally and responded by making fun of Greene’s appearance, both during the hearing and in a subsequent social media post.

In typical fashion, so-called “progressives” on social media extolled the supposed virtues of Crockett’s insults toward Greene despite the left’s insistence that body-shaming is off limits.

Here’s how the dispute played out, per the New York Post:

“That is absolutely unacceptable!” Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) shouted at Greene as she demanded that her comments be stricken from the record.

“How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person!” the “Squad” lawmaker added.

Greene then mocked Ocasio-Cortez’s anger.

“Are your feelings hurt? Aww,” she said.

“Oh! Girl, baby, girl!” Ocasio-Cortez seethed. “Don’t even play!”

“Oh, really? Baby girl? I don’t think so,” Greene said.

The Georgia Republican later agreed to strike her words but refused to apologize to Crockett.

“I am not apologizing,” Greene said before challenging Ocasio-Cortez to a debate.

“Why don’t you debate me!” she demanded.

“I think it’s pretty self-evident!” Ocasio-Cortez fired back.

“Yeah, you don’t have enough intelligence,” Greene said in another barb, resulting in groans from the chamber and renewed requests to strike her words.

When things appeared to be settling down, Crockett took the mic and fired back at Greene, in a question to Comer about what constitutes a personal attack.

“I’m just curious. To better understand your ruling, if someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleached blond, bad-built, butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?” Crockett asked.

A clip of the entire ordeal has since been making the rounds online:
