AI Can Now Predict Whether You Are Leftist Or Conservative

Researchers are raising alerts after discovering that AI facial recognition technology can now predict a person’s political orientation.

A study published by the journal American Psychologist revealed AI facial recognition technology has the ability to accurately predict one’s political affiliations on the same level as “how well job interviews predict job success, or alcohol drives aggressiveness.”

The lead researcher of the study, Michal Kosinski, told Fox News that the AI could capture a “fingerprint” of 591 participants in the study faces and was able to categorize them with the political views they align with accurately.

Mosiniksi warned the new technology poses “serious challenges to privacy.”

Here’s what Fox News reported:

Researchers are warning that facial recognition technologies are “more threatening than previously thought” and pose “serious challenges to privacy” after a study found that artificial intelligence can be successful in predicting a person’s political orientation based on images of expressionless faces.

A recent study published in the journal American Psychologist says an algorithm’s ability to accurately guess one’s political views is “on par with how well job interviews predict job success, or alcohol drives aggressiveness.” Lead author Michal Kosinski told Fox News Digital that 591 participants filled out a political orientation questionnaire before the AI captured what he described as a numerical “fingerprint” of their faces and compared them to a database of their responses to predict their views.

“I think that people don’t realize how much they expose by simply putting a picture out there,” said Kosinski, an associate professor of organizational behavior at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.

“We know that people’s sexual orientation, political orientation, religious views should be protected. It used to be different. In the past, you could enter anybody’s Facebook account and see, for example, their political views, the likes, the pages they follow. But many years ago, Facebook closed this because it was clear for policymakers and Facebook and journalists that it is just not acceptable. It’s too dangerous,” he continued.

The window to the soul is in the eyes.

Business Insider reported on a Denmark study:

AI may be able to predict your political views based on how you look — and that could cause issues down the line, new research suggests.

A team of researchers based in Denmark and Sweden conducted a study to see if “deep learning techniques,” like facial recognition technology, and predictive analytics can be used on faces to predict a person’s political views.

The purpose of the March study, researchers wrote, “was to demonstrate the significant privacy threat posed by the intersection of deep learning techniques and readily-available photographs.”

To do this, the researchers used a public dataset of 3,233 images of Danish political candidates who ran for local office and cropped them to only show their faces. After that, they applied advanced techniques to assess their facial expressions and a facial beauty database to determine a person’s “beauty score.”
