Heads up to all parents and grandparents out there….this is a public service announcement and warning!
If you’re a parent or grandparent, you probably know about the kids TV show “Bluey”.
Bluey is an Australian animated television series that follows the adventures of a six-year-old blue heeler puppy named Bluey, who lives with her family in Brisbane. The show is known for its engaging stories that explore the dynamics of family life, with a focus on Bluey and her younger sister Bingo, and their parents Bandit and Chilli. It has garnered significant attention for its ability to capture the hearts of both children and adults alike.
Since its debut in 2018, Bluey has become a critically acclaimed show, gaining popularity worldwide after its addition to Disney+ in 2019. The show is produced by Ludo Studio and distributed by BBC Studios Kids & Family. It has been praised for its insightful portrayal of family dynamics and the challenges of growing up.

As of April 2024, Bluey has over 150 episodes, with the most recent season featuring a special extended episode titled “The Sign.” This episode marked a significant moment in the show’s history, introducing the first LGBTQ+ characters. In “The Sign,” a character named Pretzel mentions having two moms, making a subtle but groundbreaking statement about the inclusion of queer characters in children’s programming.
The introduction of LGBTQ+ characters in Bluey has sparked a range of reactions. Some have celebrated the move as a step toward more inclusive and representative content for children. Others, however, have expressed skepticism and concern over the inclusion of such characters in a show aimed at young audiences. Critics argue that introducing LGBTQ+ themes in children’s programming is inappropriate and could be seen as pushing a political agenda.
Despite the controversy, Bluey continues to be a widely watched and loved show, with a significant portion of Disney+ watch hours attributed to the series. The show’s success can be attributed to its ability to appeal to both children and adults, as well as its commitment to exploring diverse and relatable themes.
As for the introduction of the lesbian characters, it was a deliberate decision by the show’s creators to include more diverse representation in the Bluey universe. While some see this as a positive step toward normalizing different family structures and promoting inclusivity, others view it as an unnecessary politicization of children’s entertainment. The debate surrounding this issue reflects broader discussions about the role of media in shaping children’s understanding of the world and the importance of representation in popular culture.
I love these two posts by Megan Basham:Es

Especially this one:
I love this response to parent complaints about smuggling LGBTQ marketing into preschool shows. “You can’t shield them forever!” Okay, how about just until they’re old enough to spell their own names? That be okay?

So true!
Do we really have to indoctrinate 4 year olds?
How about we let them grow up just a bit before exposing them to the deranged LGBTQP+ agenda?

Are you sick of this type of indoctrination?
