Fred Neulander, a New Jersey Rabbi convicted for the 1994 murder of his wife, was found dead in prison on Wednesday. Neulander was 82.
Rabbi Neulander was found guilty of and convicted by a court for a murder-for-hire scheme to murder his wife in 2002.
The disgraced Rabbi was serving a 30-year sentence for paying $30,000 to a pair of hitmen to carry out the hit on his wife.
According to sources, Neulander ordered the hit so he could engage in an affair with a radio host; here’s more on the story:
Who remembers Rabbi Fred Neulander, who was convicted in NJ of a murder-for-hire plot to kill his wife?
He paid $30,000 for two hitmen to kill her so he could pursue an affair.

NBC New York added:
In 1994, Neulander paid two men $30,000 to murder his wife Carol Neulander, who was also the mother of his three children and a co-founder of a boutique bakery.
Many claimed to have been congregants of the Rabbi at one point. One individual claimed to have come face-to-face with Fred Neulander as a child and dubbed him the “OJ” of South Jersey.
The “OJ” of S. Jersey, who had his wife killed 5 months after the Simpson murders, died in prison 3 days ago at 82. #FredNeulander #RabbiNeulander https://t.co/fSydRPwNWf

For anyone in the South Jersey or Philadelphia area that remembers this from 1994, Rabbi Fred Neulander passed away. Died in his jail cell. This man was my rabbi who had his wife unalived by a hitman so he can continue an affair. Scandal in Suburbia https://t.co/jbsEO1MJ59

The New York Post had more on the outcome of Neulander’s trials:
When the first trial ended in a hung jury, the 2002 retrial was moved from Camden County to Monmouth County to downplay the local scrutiny.
Following the retrial, Neulander was convicted of Carol’s murder.
He narrowly avoided the death penalty and was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.
