An Illinois woman has filed a class action lawsuit against American retail giant Target.
The lawsuit alleges that Target was collecting sensitive biometric data from customers and storing it without their consent.
Target has yet to respond and provide comments following the introduction of the lawsuit.
This is yet another public relations blow to the already embattled big box retailer. The corporate retailer faced growing calls to boycott it last year for going woke.

USA Today featured the core claim of the lawsuit:
The lawsuit, filed March 11 in a Cook County circuit court alleges Target’s surveillance systems covertly collect things like face and fingerprint scans from customers as part of its anti-theft efforts.
ADVERTISEMENTThe alleged practice violates Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act, the lawsuit contends, a law the state legislature passed in 2008 to protect people from details of their physical characteristics being collected without their knowledge.
Many on social media decried Target and other big box stores suspected of engaging in similar customer data collection schemes.
Beware that Walmart is doing this as well. These people need to just be sued out of existence. Their continued attempts at the '1984' style dystopian future need to hit bricks along with their careers.https://t.co/iX1LkK58pd
