WATCH BREAKING: Iran Launches Counter-Attack Against Israel

Iran has reportedly launched its highly-anticipated counterattack against Israel.

The attack was launched in response to Israel’s attack on an Iranian embassy located in Damascus, Syria, and now threatens to upend the entire region.

Sources say Iran launched as many as 100 ‘suicide’ drones into Israeli airspace.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had this to say in the wake of the counter-attack: “We are ready to do anything against Iran and do not expect mercy to be shown to any Iranian.”

All eyes are now on the region as the conflict broadens and the world stands on the cusp of being dragged into a full-scale global conflict. Here are the latest developments:

CBS News featured this warning from the U.S. State Department shortly before the retaliatory strikes began:

The U.S. State Department on Thursday warned Americans in Israel not to travel outside major cities, which are better protected from incoming rocket fire by the country’s Iron Dome missile defense system.

The latest guidance noted that travel by U.S. government employees in Israel could be further restricted with little notice as things develop in the tinderbox region.

Independent journalist Kyle Becker revealed more details on the counter-attack:

“Initial reports estimate Iran launched between 50 and 100 military drones against Israel. These are believed to be HESA Shehed 136 “suicide drones.”

The drones are fired in multiples from a launch rack to attack ground targets and overwhelm air defenses.”

BBC News presented this statement from Israeli Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi:

“The IDF [Israel Defence Forces] can handle Iran. We can act forcefully against Iran in places near and far.”
