President Trump’s legal team has just made a big legal maneuver that could put his upcoming New York ‘hush money’ trial on hold.
Trump’s lawyers are moving to indefinitely adjourn the trial — which is currently set to begin on April 15 — on the basis of overwhelming “pretrial publicity.”
His attorneys argue that a fair trial for Trump is impossible because of how much negative press media has given him.

CNBC has more details:
Attorneys for Donald Trump have asked a judge for a “significant” delay of his fast-approaching criminal hush money trial, arguing the Republican presidential nominee cannot get a fair jury due to “prejudicial pretrial publicity.”
ADVERTISEMENTThe trial on charges of falsifying business records must adjourn until that press coverage “abates,” Trump’s lawyers wrote last week in a filing in New York Supreme Court.
2Paragraphs added:
Last week Judge Juan M. Merchan ruled that former president Donald Trump‘s alleged hush-money trial — the first of Trump’s four upcoming criminal trials — will begin April 15.
Today, Trump’s lawyers moved to adjourn the New York City case indefinitely due to “prejudicial pretrial publicity” which is “substantial” and “ongoing.” (Trump’s team is asking for an “indefinite” delay where a similar adjournment motion filed on March 18 requested only “further” delay.)
MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin explained, “They’re asking for an indefinite postponement of the trial on the basis that the pretrial publicity surrounding Donald Trump and his alleged criminality is so suffuse throughout New York that it’s impossible for him to get a fair trial, they say, until that publicity abates.”
