Pennsylvania Protects From Voter Fraud

A federal appeals court in Pennsylvania recently took a step in preventing voter fraud.

The court ruled in a 2-1 favor that mail-in ballots received without accurate handwritten dates on the outside of the envelopes are not valid.

This decision will make a major impact on the 2024 election, as Pennsylvania is shaping up to be a key state, much like it was in 2020.

This decision went against a ruling in November, stating it violated the Materiality Provision of the U.S. Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Fox News expands on Judge Thomas Ambro’s comments on the new decision:

“The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania unanimously held this ballot-casting rule is mandatory; thus, failure to comply renders a ballot invalid under Pennsylvania law,” Ambro wrote.

The Materiality Provision “only applies when the State is determining who may vote,” Ambro wrote.

Pennsylvania state law requires Pennsylvania voters must fill out, date, and sign the declaration that is printed on the envelope prior to submitting their mail in vote.

There have been some mixed reviews regarding the mail-in ballots. While some argue the convenience factor, many question the validity of this form of voting.

Many have taken to X to give their opinion of the decision to require the mail-in ballot dating:

NPR News expands RNC Chair Michael Whatley’s comments on the ruling:

The RNC led this appeal to the 3rd Circuit and has signaled it expects this legal battle to ultimately reach the Supreme Court.

In a statement, RNC Chair Michael Whatley called the ruling “a crucial victory for election integrity and voter confidence.”

“Pennsylvanians deserve to feel confident in the security of their mail ballots, and this 3rd Circuit ruling roundly rejects unlawful left-wing attempts to count undated or incorrectly dated mail ballots,” Whatley said. “Republicans will continue to fight and win for election integrity in courts across the country ahead of the 2024 election.”
