DEVELOPING: Explosion And Massive Fire At Gas Station, Evacuations Underway


Emergency crews responded after reports of an explosion and a massive fire at a Kentucky gas station.

Evacuations are reportedly underway at a Comfuel gas station in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

“Currently, numerous businesses and a nearby school are under evacuation as dozens of emergency crews and other authorities respond to a massive explosion and large fire at the reported Comfuel Gas Station located in the heart of Bowling Green, Kentucky,” Rawsalerts writes.

“People are seen running out of the buildings. Multiple streets near the scene have been shut down. The explosion was felt miles away, with large plumes of black smoke visible. At this time, it’s unknown if anyone has been injured. This is still a developing situation,” Rawsalerts added.

The Bowling Green Fire Department is on the scene of a large structure fire at Comfuel.

The St. Joseph Interparochial School has been evacuated due to the fire.

Traffic at the Veteran’s Memorial at Main Street is being diverted. The eastbound lane has been blocked.

WHAS11 News added:

It’s unclear if there were any injuries at this time.

The St. Joseph Interparochial School, which is near where the fire was reported, has been evacuated.

Bowling Green Police said Veterans Memorial Lane between Church and Gordon Avenue is closed.

ComFuel is about a mile and a half north of Western Kentucky University.
